Free music, a live show and novelty cover!
In anticipation of the gig at The Zanzibar in Liverpool on Sat 28th Jan supporting Liverpool's own Tea Street Band, me and The Mystery Force thought it would be a flaming well excellent idea to give away the music from the recent ep 'Human Sacrifice' for free for a short while.
The record has had some great feedback, people almost surprised to hear what the acoustic versions they are so used to sound like 'beefed up' with more electricity, band members and generally more bashing around. However at this stage for us, with it being the first release in this guise, and having enjoyed making the record so much we just want to let as many people hear it is possible rather than hide it away.
It's all listenable on the Bandcamp page - so go ahead...fill your boots! But only for a short while. Yeah we're not THAT generous :)
The Tea Street crowd and punters love their dance music, and it is provided on a silver platter in live format by the band who specialise in mixing guitars and dance; acoustic and electric drums; traditional beat combo and contemporary beat driven unit.
To be on the bill doing a stripped down Mystery Force set with the acoustic guitar and synth man Andy was a pleasure in that it was something different and an unexpected audience for us.
We had the job of warming them up with some laid back acoustic melodiousness ( a word?) but in the spirit of the evening we thought we would throw little curve ball in.
Curved for ourselves that is......the almost playful, yet undeniably brilliant in its textbook 'hit' nature - Rhythm of The Night by Corona - became what we ourselves geared our set towards.
In all seriousness, on just an acoustic guitar and sung laid back it's a thing of beauty, again the sign of the 'textbook' hit makers who know what they're doing.
And to wrap things up even more neatly it was so fitting that we should bring out Dominic (drummer for Tea Street and for 3/4 of the songs on our 'Human Sacrifice' ep) to knock out some percussion for it.
For us it was the perfect close to the opening set and a nice hat-tip the lads who would go on to pound the Zanzi with their dance grooves.
Once again, the free downloads are available HERE on the Bandcamp page. You can pay something if you really want to, whatever you want, but fill your boots on freebies should you wish. We'd love you to hear the record.
